Women’s Fund 2nd Advocacy Forum

On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, the Women’s Fund of East Tennessee organized their second Advocacy Forum event. The WFET Advocacy Forum II was open to the public, community partners, and was graciously hosted by the Knoxville Museum of Art. Participants, speakers, members, and guests spent the evening engaging with one another over the obstacles that low-income women and girls are confronted with when accessing resources for education and future sustainability.

From the excellent and thoughtful remarks by the program presenters, the evening gave our audience a great snapshot of what young women and girls face in East Tennessee and how we can all do something to make positive change. Collectively, we can make great strides in advocacy to stop violence against women and girls and build a network to change the current pervasive and discouraging narrative that serves as a barrier to their education. We truly believe we are building momentum and appreciate the spirit of support radiating from the community.
