WFET Awarded Women of Influence Award

We are proud to announce the Women’s Fund of East Tennessee is the recipient of the Women of Influence award. The Women of Influence luncheon was held at Cherokee Country Club in early March and was hosted by First Horizon (formerly First Tennessee). Attendees were asked to review a list of charities in our community, that support the needs of women and girls, and vote for the one they believed was the most deserving of a $5,000 award from the First Horizon Foundation. WFET was notified that votes were tallied, and we had been chosen to receive the award!

Serving customers since 1864, First Horizon believes their company has a responsibility to help their communities, customers, and employees. Through their diversity and inclusion efforts, they also strive to help create equitable opportunities for their female employees as well as to empower women and minority owned businesses. In 2018, they began their Women of Influence event series with one goal in mind: to become the go-to financial provider for women and to equip them with the resources they need to feel financially empowered.

Like the Women’s Fund of East Tennessee, First Horizon is dedicated to the enrichment and advancement of women as they pursue their dreams and financial futures. They also understand how important it is to provide opportunities to those in need, and with their Women of Influence event series, have given the attendees the chance to vote on a local nonprofit organization that focuses on empowering women and females.
