Journeys VII Success

The Women’s Fund of East Tennessee, in conjunction with Jonesborough’s McKinney Center hosted its seventh Journeys of Women Art Exhibit (JVII) with Opening Reception on August 29, 2019. The event was a complete success, netting over $38,000 to support our efforts break down barriers for low-income women and girls.

Eighty-eight pieces of work by more than thirty artists were selected for this juried exhibition. Juror Sam Yates, Director and Curator of the Ewing Gallery of Art & Architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, announced awards to five artists at the Opening Reception listed below. Cash awards were provided by Eastman Credit Union and presented by Kelly Price, Executive Vice President, ECU.

  • Best in Show – Ocean Spray by Bill and Tina Collison
  • 2nd Place – View from Trout Lily by Coralie Tweed
  • 3rd Place – Oasis by Monique Carr
  • Honorable Mention – Azaleas in Northern Light by Donna Bird
  • Honorable Mention – Coffee Server – Nancy Fishman

This event would not be possible without our talented JVII Committee led by Judy Ingala, Chair, Sharon Boles, Cynthia Burnley, Caroline Scharfstein, Linda Spence, Nita Summers, and Carol Transou. These women worked tirelessly to ensure our guests at JVII had a wonderful time and the event was a success. In addition, we would like to thank our sponsors, volunteers, advertisers, auction and tribute donors. We are grateful for the support and friendship extended.
